Member First Mortgage is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting team! In this role, you will support daily accounting operations including accounts payable, general ledger reconciliations, loan processing, and financial data entry. You’ll collaborate with other departments to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial transactions while helping maintain organized records for audits and reporting.

ResponsibilitiesMaintain accounts payable ledger; process daily and weekly payments via check and ACH
Reconcile and monitor general ledger accounts daily, weekly, and monthly; research and resolve outstanding items
Process daily loan imports and post entries in the financial system
Monitor, process, and post portfolio and GSE sales; send notifications to warehouse lenders
Perform data entry for accounting information into the Loan Origination System (LOS)
Collaborate with other departments to monitor service release loans
Retrieve, save, and organize incoming and outgoing wire notifications from funding sources
Balance and reconcile warehouse line of credit (LOC) accounts
Manage loan transfers for GSE and credit union portfolio loans in the servicing system
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for audits and compliance reviews
Ensure adherence to company policies, GAAP standards, and regulatory requirements
Support other accounting functions as needed, including reporting, reconciliations, and process improvements
Perform additional duties as assigned
1–3 years of accounting experience, investor reporting, or mortgage servicing preferred. Internship or related coursework is acceptable. Familiarity with accounting principles, GAAP, and financial reconciliations is preferred.
EducationAssociate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Relevant coursework, certifications, or practical experience in accounting or mortgage finance is a plus.
Required SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and formulas
Experience with accounting systems and financial reporting; familiarity with Loan Origination Systems (LOS) a plus
Ability to work with large data sets and perform accurate financial calculations
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and GAAP
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Adaptable, proactive, and positive, with a professional demeanor
Problem-solving mindset, self-motivated, and highly driven
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines efficiently
Familiarity with mortgage servicing operations, GSE reporting, or loan portfolio management is a plus
Quick learner with ability to adapt to changing processes and guidelines
Ability to sit for extended periods, work at a computer, and handle light office tasks. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
