William Paterson University invites applications for Adjunct Professor within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice. Qualified applicants may be contacted if and when there is an immediate need, or on an exploratory basis for a future opening. Courses generally taught by adjunct professors include Essentials of Criminal Justice, Policing, Criminal Investigation, Sociological Theory, Research Methods, and Data Analysis. The Department offers programs teaching students to identify, understand, and critically analyze social patterns and fundamentals of the criminal justice system. Duties include developing syllabi based on course outlines, deploying course content, objectives, and student assessment methods for up to six credits per semester in undergraduate courses, and contributing to student success through support and mentoring. Required qualifications include an earned Master’s or PhD in Sociology, Criminology, or a related field. Preferred qualifications include one or more years teaching in higher education. Personal attributes sought include enthusiasm for teaching, patience, resourcefulness, ability to maintain relationships in a diverse environment, dedication to excellence, and collaboration skills. The position supports a remote friendly hybrid work schedule and offers a four-day summer work week from mid-May to mid-August.
