Job Description

Aerial Lineman Responsibilities & Duties

  • Install, maintain, and repair overhead lines and cables
  • Climb utility poles to access lines at height
  • Use specialized equipment to install and maintain lines
  • Inspect and test power lines and cables to identify defects or faults
  • Splice, join, and terminate cables as required
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries
  • Work with bucket trucks, hand tools, and power tools as needed
  • Collaborate with other team members and contractors to complete projects
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment and tools
  • Respond to service outages and repair requests promptly
  • Document work performed and maintain accurate records
  • Participate in training and certification programs to stay updated with industry standards

Aerial Lineman Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience working as an Aerial Lineman or similar role
  • Familiarity with industry-standard safety practices
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and plans
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina for working at heights
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools
  • Certified in First Aid and CPR
  • Class A CDL driver's license
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an apprenticeship or lineman training program
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and circuitry
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Valid driver's license
  • Commitment to adhering to safety regulations and protocols
