Job Description
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager – Ammonia/Refrigeration, the Assistant Refrigeration Manager is responsible for overseeing maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of refrigeration systems. This role involves supervising technicians, managing daily operations, and ensuring safety and compliance across all refrigeration processes.
Education & Experience:
Trade school diploma or equivalent experience
3+ years’ experience working with industrial/commercial refrigeration systems
Proven supervisory or managerial experience in refrigeration maintenance
Strong technical knowledge of refrigeration systems and equipment
Skilled in using hand and shop tools for system repair and maintenance
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturer instructions
Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in managing daily refrigeration department operations
Oversee maintenance, repair, and performance of all refrigeration systems
Supervise, train, and motivate refrigeration technicians
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs with the Refrigeration Manager
Support hiring, training, and professional development of refrigeration associates
Ensure consistent reporting on safety, production, and cost performance
Promote safety and eliminate unsafe acts or conditions within the team
Drive continuous improvement and quality initiatives within maintenance operations
