divh2Naval Tug Deckhand/h2pAssist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of Naval tugs and crafts assigned to the Navy Region Northwest, Port Operations./ppPerform light rigging when required. Operate deck cranes, winches, capstans, and fire equipment./ppBe responsible for the proper handling of towing lines, and safe operation of deck equipment./ppEnsure lines are properly tied to docks or floating plant which tug is tending./ppFunction as a line handler for arrival and departure of vessels./ppRelieve the Captain in the pilot house during certain operations./ppNavigate and maneuver tugs alongside certain objects including barges and docks./ppPerform maintenance of vessel mechanical systems, deck machinery, and painting preservation./ppPerform daily checks of oil boom, including cleaning and repairs./ppMust be a US Citizen./ppMust be determined suitable for federal employment./ppMust participate in the direct deposit pay program./ppNew employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. My experience includes performing tasks involved in the maintenance, general upkeep, and deck operations a small craft which may include assisting in docking and undocking; line and cable handling; operating deck cranes, winches capstans, and firefighting equipment; maintaining deck machinery and equipment, and chipping/sanding and painting of vessel. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
