Job Title: Class C Delivery Driver

Department: Operations

Reports To: Delivery Manager

Job Summary:

The Class C Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional delivery of lumber, millwork, hardware, and building materials to customer locations and job sites. Operating a variety of non-CDL vehiclesincluding box trucks, curtain-side trucks, and flatbedsthis role supports daily delivery operations and ensures accurate order handling and customer satisfaction. Reporting to the Delivery Manager, the Class C Driver works closely with dispatch, warehouse, and yard teams to maintain delivery schedules and uphold company safety and service standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong driving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to operational excellence within the lumber and building materials (LBM) industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery Operations:

Safely operate Class C vehicles to transport LBM and millwork products to customer sites. Ensure timely, accurate, and courteous deliveries using box trucks, curtain-side trucks, and flatbeds.

Load Securement & Material Handling:

Assist with loading and unloading materials using approved safety procedures. Properly secure loads using straps and cargo securement techniques to prevent damage and ensure safe transport.

Vehicle Operation & Maintenance:

Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any maintenance issues promptly to ensure road readiness.

Customer Service:

Represent the company professionally at job sites and customer locations. Assist with unloading, verify order accuracy, and address customer questions or concerns courteously.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate delivery logs, trip records, and customer signatures. Report discrepancies and communicate delivery issues to the Delivery Manager.

Route Planning & Efficiency:

Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to minimize delays and maximize productivity. Communicate proactively with dispatch to adjust for traffic or schedule changes.

Safety & Compliance:

Follow all company safety protocols and traffic laws. Maintain awareness of proper lifting techniques, equipment operation, and safe driving practices.

Team Collaboration:

Coordinate with dispatch, warehouse, and yard teams to ensure smooth delivery operations. Support inventory and receiving teams as needed.

Qualifications:

Licensing:

Valid Class C drivers license required.

Experience:

Prior experience in delivery or warehouse operations, preferably within the lumber and building materials industry.

Skills:

Strong safety awareness, time management, and customer service skills. Ability to operate various truck types and follow detailed procedures.

Technical Proficiency:

Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance, cargo securement, and delivery documentation.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and move heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in outdoor environments.
