Job Description

The Emergency Management & Security Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, development, and implementation of programs that ensure a safe, compliant, and effective environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This leadership role supports the hospital’s regulatory readiness, emergency preparedness, workplace violence prevention, and safety/security operations in alignment with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) standards and other applicable regulations. The Emergency Management & Security Manager directly oversees the in-house security team and serves as a liaison between hospital departments, regulatory bodies, and external emergency response agencies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with DNV standards, OSHA, NFPA, CMS, and other applicable regulations; developing and updating Environment of Care (EOC) policies and plans; preparing for regulatory surveys and audits; coordinating hospital committees related to emergency management and workplace violence prevention; developing and maintaining the Emergency Management Program; conducting hazard vulnerability analyses; planning and evaluating disaster drills; liaising with emergency management agencies; maintaining Hospital Incident Command System (HICS); overseeing mutual aid agreements; providing education and resources on emergency preparedness; serving as on-site coordinator during emergencies; directing the hospital’s security program including hiring, training, and supervising security personnel; developing security policies and protocols; managing security operations and technologies; maintaining incident logs and analyzing security trends; leading workplace violence prevention programs including risk assessments, training, and incident monitoring; coordinating fire/life safety drills and training; managing hazardous materials and waste programs; supporting safety initiatives and OSHA compliance; conducting safety rounds and audits; developing and delivering training programs on EOC topics; maintaining documentation and reporting on safety and compliance metrics; and supporting additional EOC-related initiatives as directed. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree preferred in related fields, five years of progressive experience preferred, at least two years in a leadership role required, strong knowledge of emergency management principles and security regulations, experience with regulatory requirements, excellent analytical and communication skills, and relevant certifications preferred. The position is located in Elma, Washington at Summit Pacific Medical Center, a public hospital district with a critical access hospital and multiple clinics.
