Onboarding and Training Specialist
Join Northern Michigans premier provider of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in the treatment ofclients diagnosed with autism and make a difference in the lives of local families and in ourcommunity! North Arrow ABA is seeking a full-time HR/Onboarding & Training Specialist as part of ourHuman Resources (HR) team to support our growing organization of 150+ clinical and administrativestaff. The qualified applicant will lead and execute a wide range of onboarding and training relatedtasks, from the recruiting and hiring stage through training and transition of newly licensed clinicalstaff to each of our several clinical centers. This position reports directly to the HR Director in ourTraverse City, Michigan HQ location, but may also be based in another of our clinical center locations.
The work is primarily on-site but may also include some amount of remote work.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Primary responsibility for new Behavior Technician (BT) onboarding, to include all clinicaltraining content as well as training in various administrative/business processes andsoftware systems throughout a multi-week program;
- Manage and facilitate changes/improvements to the training curriculum through
collaboration with clinical, business, and HR staff for all aspects of BT training; - Coordinate efforts between clinical and scheduling staff to minimize/eliminate gaps
between the completion of training and the start of direct therapy (DT) delivery; - Serve as the primary liaison between HR and Lead Technicians (LTs) at each clinical centerto ensure coordination and execution of clinical training at each company location;
- Monitor and ensure that all RBTs remain compliant with on-going training requirements toinclude but not limited to CPR, recipient rights, etc.;
- Collect and report appropriate hiring, onboarding, and RBT retention metrics to aid HR
and company leadership in identifying trends and process improvement opportunities; - Serve as additional support/surge capacity for recruiting and employee relations efforts asa member of the HR team, when and where necessary;
- Provide operational support to clinical/HR staff in the onboarding and training of
Board-Certified Behavior Analysis (BCBA) staff, where feasible; - Responding to one-time data requests and programmatic needs from company executives, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of onboarding and training-related methodologies and best practices;
- Basic understanding of ABA and the requirements of the RBT position;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Advanced computer skills, especially the Google suite of tools, human resources software(BambooHR preferred) and applicant tracking systems/job boards;
- Problem-solving skills and resourceful thinking;
- Strong empathy and interpersonal skills;
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills;
- Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once;
- Willingness to accept constructive feedback for both professional development and in the improvement of specific skills and work products;
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Required: At least 2 years experience in a fast-paced office environment working
with multiple stakeholders with frequently competing priorities; - Required: High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree strongly
preferred; formal education in training systems and programs preferred; - Required: Reliable daily transportation to commute to work including occasional
trips as needed to other center locations; - Preferred: Prior experience in onboarding and training of staff that are entirely
new to the position and the job requirements; - Preferred: Prior healthcare and/or ABA industry experience;
- Preferred: Prior experience in human resources to include recruiting and
employee engagement/retention initiatives.
