Job Title: Cellular Tower Technician
Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified and safety-focused Cellular Tower Technician to join our telecommunications field operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and upgrading of cellular network infrastructure to ensure optimal system performance and network reliability. This role involves extensive tower climbing, technical troubleshooting, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Install, align, and commission antennas, radios, RRHs, coaxial and fiber lines, grounding systems, and other cellular transmission equipment in accordance with engineering and carrier specifications.
Perform network upgrades and modifications, including technology conversions (e.g., 4G to 5G), equipment replacements, and system reconfigurations.
Conduct regular site inspections and preventive maintenance; diagnose and repair faults in transmission lines and RF systems.
Operate and interpret test equipment such as sweep, PIM, and fiber testers to ensure proper performance and compliance.
Safely climb towers and elevated structures, using appropriate rigging, fall-protection, and lift procedures.
Maintain detailed job documentation, including test reports, site photos, and close-out packages.
Follow all OSHA, ANSI, and company-specific safety policies, including RF awareness and lockout/tagout procedures.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field technicians to ensure timely and efficient completion of site builds and upgrades.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or telecommunications training preferred.
Minimum 1–3 years of experience in tower climbing, cellular installation, or RF systems maintenance.
Proficiency with coaxial, fiber-optic, and grounding systems.
Strong understanding of wireless communications infrastructure and components.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
Ability to climb towers up to and exceeding 200 feet and work at elevated heights for extended periods.
OSHA 10/30, ComTrain, and CPR/First Aid certifications preferred.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Work performed outdoors in various weather conditions and at elevated heights.
Frequent travel to project sites as required.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Schedule flexibility, including occasional nights or weekends, based on project needs.
