URBAN TXT: Teens Exploring Technology is a nationally recognized and growing nonprofit organization focused on inspiring young men of color to become confident leaders who use technology as a tool to improve marginalized communities. We are dedicated to ending the school-to-prison pipeline. Through our unique approach to leadership, technology, and entrepreneurship, we prevent our youth from entering the school-to-prison pipeline. Our core values come from our leadership creed. Position Summary

TXT-LABS is seeking a creative and motivated Web Designer/UI/UX Designer for a Federal Work-Study position. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of IT consulting projects, including educational technology initiatives. You will be responsible for designing user interfaces that enhance user experiences across our web and mobile platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop user interfaces for various web and mobile applications, ensuring they are visually appealing and user-friendly.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to effectively communicate design ideas.
• Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and iterate on designs.
• Collaborate with the development team to ensure seamless integration of design elements.
• Maintain design guidelines, style guides, and UI patterns to ensure consistency across projects.
• Ensure all designs are optimized for various devices and screen sizes.

Key Qualifications

• You MUST be a USC student applying through work-study.
• Enrollment in a relevant degree program (e.g., Graphic Design, Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field).
• Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, or similar.
• Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and a passion for creating beautiful, user-centric designs.

We serve young men of color between the 7th and 11th grade who are from low-income communities. Since 2009, weve used the concept of developing strong teams as a way for our young men to learn about collaboration, ideation, and long-lasting life skills.
