Location: Kent, Washington --- 🏡 About Our Home Our home is a warm, comfortable space located in Kent, Washington, just a short drive from Seattle and Mount Rainier. It’s peaceful yet conveniently close to shops, parks, and cafes — ideal if you enjoy a calm holiday surrounded by nature. We live off a dirt road, and a vehicle with 4 wheel drive would be handy. A 2 wheel can make it up our driveway no problem, but it can damage the road in the process of getting up. We absolutely live in a country setting, but all the convenience of city (Safeway, Costco, Fred Meyer, etc) is 15 minutes away or less. You’ll have access to several sleeping options, full kitchen with gas stove, Wi-Fi, laundry, and cozy living areas. Our home is located on just shy of 3 acres, in a farming community. It is very dark and quiet with plenty of parking, and plenty of space to relax with a cup of coffee (and a cat or two) after tending to the flock. --- 🐾 Who You’ll Be Caring For 🐱 The kittens — Shadow & Bruv (approximately 5 months old as of Nov) We share our home with two young cats who have distinct personalities. Shadow (female) is affectionate, gentle, and loves attention once she’s decided you’re a friend. Bruv (male) is sweet but cautious — he’ll come to you for pets once he’s had a good sniff and feels comfortable. Both were born outdoors and still enjoy spending time outside each day. Before heading out, they wear GPS trackers, and they’re both used to the collar routine. You’ll help them with their collars before they go out and make sure they’re safely inside at night. 🐔 The Chickens Our flock is divided into two groups: 5 adults (1 rooster, 4 hens) 7 “teenagers” (4 roosters, 3 hens) who are learning to crow — it’s a lively bunch! They need daily feeding, fresh water, and to be secured in their coops at night. They’re friendly and entertaining to watch. 🐣 The Quail Four sweet quail live in our laundry room. They’re easy to care for but require checkups twice daily for food, water, and general comfort. They love when you talk to them — they’ll respond with soft chirps! 🌿 The Plants We have many plants throughout the house, including a full plant room and greenery in every space. Most need watering once a week, with a few requiring an occasional mist or top-up. We’ll provide a clear watering schedule. --- 🐾 What Responsibilities Are Required Your main task is keeping our animals and plants healthy, happy, and loved. Daily tasks include: Feeding and playtime with Shadow and Bruv Helping them with their GPS collars before outdoor time Feeding, watering, and securing the chickens and quail Weekly watering of houseplants Keeping the home tidy and cozy while we’re away We’ll provide detailed instructions and a full walkthrough before we leave, and we’ll stay reachable while we’re gone. I will be installing cameras at specific locations so that I can view the animals. All camera locations will be discussed before our departure. --- 👋 Meet the Homeowners Hello! We’re a friendly couple who recently moved in to this Kent house in October, so we're still getting things organized. We were gifted our kittens from a previous neighbor shortly before moving in. We're also disc golf players and love to explore new courses and get out in nature. We’re looking for someone kind, dependable, and communicative who will care for our pets and home as if they were their own. Our animals all have their quirks, but once you know them, they’re a joy to be around.
