28 Life Lessons of a 28 Year Old *

In celebration of turning 28 today, I’ve been reflecting on what these past 28 years have taught me.  If I could go back in time and give myself some words of wisdom, what would those be?  Several lessons-learned instantly began flooding my mind. Curious? Well here they are….

  1. Success and failure are on the same road…. Success is just further down that road.
  2. When people show you who they are, believe them.
  3. Don’t ignore the zip cash bill… they do not just disappear.
  4. Some things just should not be said via text.
  5. Don’t waste time explaining yourself to people who are committed to misunderstanding you.
  6. Do the preventative botox.
  7. Just because you know you are a certain way does not give you an excuse to act that way.
  8. Everything you want is figure-outable.
  9. Success is hard… but being broke is harder.
  10. Love your body and yourself through thick and thin… literally and figuratively.
  11. Having real love takes real work. Worth it.
  12. Don’t let the praise get to your head.
  13. Don’t let the critics get to your heart.
  14. Probably should’ve stopped at two dogs… 12 muddy paws is a lot to clean up.
  15. Not all relationships are meant to last forever. They come in seasons for different reasons.
  16. Sometimes cheap wine will do.
  17. You should never have to sell yourself. Either they’ll get you or they won’t.  And if they don’t then they weren’t meant to be.
  18. Always use an excuse to celebrate. Small wins are worthy of celebration too.
  19. Better to take imperfect action than perfect inaction.
  20. Don’t go into business with your friends… lawyers are expensive.
  21. You can do it all… you just can’t do it all at once.
  22. Never miss out on a great opportunity to shut up.
  23. Your cheesecake will NOT look like the Pinterest photo.
  24. Love is easy when things are easy. The test of love is how you work through adversity.
  25. Cardio actually never gets more fun as time goes on.
  26. Things don’t happen to you. They happen for you.
  27. The reality is everyone is trying to look like they have it all the way together, but no one really does so stop worrying so much. You’re doing just fine.
  28. Not everyone you lose is a loss.

Some are silly, some are serious, but all of them are valuable!  Share in the comments your greatest life lessons. Can’t wait to read your words of wisdom!
