A Weekend In Fredericksburg *

Fredericksburg has been on my bucket list for a while now and it definitely did NOT disappoint.  For those who aren’t already familiar, Fredericksburg is the heart of Texas Hill Country.  It’s also basically the next up-and-coming Napa or Portland with over 50 wineries.

Now, with over 50 wineries, tons of restaurants, lots of shopping, and beautiful scenery, it can be overwhelming to decide what to cram into a quick weekend getaway… trust me, I would know.

I spent a weekend with the hubby for my 30th birthday and wanted to have a relaxed weekend, but still get a FULL experience… and I’d say the mission was DEFINITELY accomplished.

Which is exactly why I’m throwing together a great guide for anyone looking for an easy, fun weekend in FBG!

First things first…

WHERE TO STAY

You could definitely go the hotel or winery route, but Fredericksburg is home to the absolute COOLEST AirBnB’s you’ve ever seen. If you’re planning a trip, I HIGHLY recommend booking your stay at the HoneyTree Farms.

On this farm is a series of boutique, unique, experiences, like The Acorn Treehouse that Travis and I stayed in. It’s just 10-15 minutes from the downtown Fredericksburg area and pretty much everything we did that weekend.

All of the details from the vaulted ceilings, to the outdoor tub, to the romantic bedding, are so perfect. The whole vibe is so aesthetic that I even decided to bring in Kaitlin Rodgers for some sweet photos in the space…

WHAT TO DO

FRIDAY

Das Peach Haus

Fredericksburg is about a 4.5 hour drive from Dallas, so we hit the road at about 11:30 am which put is into FBG by 4 pm. Instead of heading to our BnB, we went straight to Das Peach Haus for a lakeside wine tasting and charcuterie board.

The casual ambiance was perfect for our road-trip attire. Picture sitting on the lake at sunset, overlooking the peach orchards, nestled in the trees with your wine tasting and charcuterie… it honestly doesn’t get more relaxing OR romantic.

The Fischer Weiser family owns the place, in fact, they LIVE on the property still, so you are in for some delicious wines and also a great shop full of jams, chutneys, and mustards galore so you can get any gift shopping out of the way while you’re there.

Chase’s Place Cocktails

After that, we checked in to our AirBnb, freshened up, and headed to Chase’s Place for dinner and drinks. Fun fact… Chase was literally at the place, and if you’re lucky enough to meet him, he’s the nicest guy! He opened this SUPER cool spot to be a bar with elevated food, and OH MY GOSH.

Trav and I got DOWN on the cocktails. I started with a Lychee Martini, and finished with a Marg (my fave). The truffle and parmesan fries are a must. We also split the chimichurri steak tacos and the steak was phenomenal.

The ambiance also gets an A+. Oh, and ladies… while you’re there, make sure to go to the bathroom and press the blue button on the mirror to take your selfie game to new heights.

SATURDAY

After an evening full of wine tasting and cocktail drinking, we gave ourselves permission to have a slow morning and enjoy the AirBnb amenities a bit. French press coffee, and some time with nature was just what I needed. And then, we brunch.

Woerner’s Warehouse

This is a really cool spot. You’re literally brunching in a warehouse full of awesome antiques and unique finds. They offer like… 5 different types of Avocado Toast (a basic beyotch Instagram dream), but the star of the show was honestly the Smoked Salmon Plate. Oh and the best part… mimosas to-go.

Shopping on Main Street

From brunch, you’re already off Main Street, so you have to spend some time walking around all the cute little shops. Chain-stores and restaurants are not permitted on the main strip to maintain the quaint, small-town vibe, so it’s fun to shop all the local shops.

We 100% picked up some cute new stuff for Tati, because mama just can’t help herself.

Hilmy Winery

Next up, we headed to Hilmy Winery. We honestly could’ve easily jammed in more time for another winery, or we could’ve even done a tour but we loved this vibe and this wine so much. I mean… can we talk about the view?

Oh, and don’t get me started on the prosciutto mac and cheese.

Vaudeville

After that, we stepped up the attire a notch and headed to Vaudeville for dinner.

If you’re celebrating something special, the Vaudeville dining room is a VIBE. It’s swanky, the food is delicious, and overall just an iconic spot in the heart of the Fredericksburg action.

I had such a good time with Travis, living in the moment, I forgot to take pictures (blogger fail). But, if you’re following me on Instagram, you probably saw it in stories!

SUNDAY

Hondo’s

I’m a sucker for a good Reuben. Especially after a weekend of drinking all the wine and cocktails, I was ready for something heavy before we hit the road.

Hondo’s is great for a grubby vibe, which is exactly what we were looking for before starting our road trip home. And since Sunday WAS my ACTUAL birthday, I treated myself to a Jalapeño Margarita, and I’m so glad I did. It might’ve been one of the best spicy margs I’ve ever had!

And that’s how we spent the weekend.

You honestly can’t go wrong in Fredericksburg. But if you’re looking for some solid recommendations, you definitely won’t go wrong with any of the above 🙂
